Project construction updates
Brookings County-Hampton 345 kV project
Construction began in May 2012 between the Cedar Mountain Substation (Renville County) and the Helena Substation (Scott County). Foundation drilling and structure setting progresses; as of late September, about 250 foundations are complete and 120 structures are set on the Cedar Mountain-Helena segment. Line stringing started in September between Franklin and Fairfax. Construction between the Cedar Mountain and Helena substations is expected to be complete in late 2012 or early 2013.

Fargo-St. Cloud 345 kV project
Erection of structures between Alexandria and St. Cloud started in February 2013 and stringing of conductor will start in June. Helicopters will be used periodically to string conductor between Alexandria and St. Cloud. Foundation construction continues between Alexandria and the Red River. Foundation construction started in North Dakota in January 2013. Construction crews completed 90 foundations in North Dakota through February. The crews plan to return in October 2013 after harvest. The Fargo-St. Cloud project, including a North Dakota segment, is scheduled to be energized and in service in 2015.
